Shelley a. whitehead, phd, mph
Dr. Whitehead is a medical entomologist with specialties in vector ecology and applied mosquito control research. A South Carolina native, she graduated with honors from Presbyterian College in 2011 with bachelors degrees in both Biology and English, from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2013 with a masters degree in Public Health, and from The Pennsylvania State University in 2019 with a PhD in Entomology. Her doctoral dissertation focused on environmental variation and its impacts on the vectorial capacity of the malaria vector Anopheles stephensi.
After finishing her studies, she chose to teach biology and environmental science at three universities in Spartanburg, South Carolina before moving to Bradenton, Florida to work in mosquito control. She established Whitehead Entomology Consulting in March 2022.
Dr. Whitehead currently resides in West Springs, South Carolina with her husband, Dan McCombie, and twins, Gage and Monroe.

Not only do I provide my own courses online but I am also available to provide in-person education to mosquito control professionals as well as demonstrations for school aged children.
